I am trying to mount a Vortex Diamondback Tactical Scope on a CZ 457 that I just bought. The CZ 457 has a 11mm dovetail rail for mounting and does not have screw holes for a piccatiny rail. I have been told the best thing is to get a gunsmith to drill holes for screws. I am reluctant to do that, as there is no going back once you drill. Should I be worried about drilling, or is really no big deal? Second, what mounting hardware might let me mount the scope without drilling? Some research suggests a 30mm ring, high, might do it. Anything else I should consider. I will be using the setup for target, silhouette shooting.
