Well, I had a shooters ridge bipod and wanted to mount it on my M14. I bought a wood swivel stud and mounted it behind the existing sling mount. It seems pretty solid and it does not extend into the inside of the stock! I'm going shooting thursday and I will let you know how it works! It will last until I get a synthetic stock
