Mounting EOTech

it's a "scout" setup. you track the target with the rifle with both eyes open and go to the dot when you're ready to fire. extremely fast compared to convntional mounting partly because you can see the whole picture no real need to refocus. you can do the same thing with a conventional scope as long as it has the right eye relief.

the diasvantage is some loss of precision at longer ranges -longer depends on the person, can be 100 on up yards??

Sorry to hijack but when mounting an Eotech do you need to buy a mount or is it cool just to mount it right on your flattop upper with no special mount.

I mounted mine on my 16" flat top at the very front as far as i could 'clamp" it

works well for me I used the hex bolts as i never take mine off

I helped a guy out on the range who just knew f#cking everything. He was trying to sight in his EOTech and was having no luck. When I brought out my
AR he stomped over and practically demanded I show him how to set it up.

Stupid F#CK was trying to line up the reticle and the front sight. I razzed him until he got into his truck and left. He gave me the finger as he left, I was still laughing my ass off but I did get his licence plate for future retibution.

JUST CLASSIC!!!!:D

Well I see where you get your handle from! ;)
I used to have my Eotech up in the front, but the 553 is way to large for that, so its in the back now.
Great thing about the Eotech, is that its so easy to adapt too, I havnt finished sighting it in yet, but I wonder if you would need to re zero from moving it.

Any ideas?

I wouldn't think so. As long as it's on the same rail so the height is the same and equally the same for left and right on the rail.(blah blah blah, from the front of the same rail to the back) All you are changing is your eye relief. Fire away!!
