my question is

will i be a ble to use the iron sights and the red dot? or will i sacrifice one for the other?

id like to have both, is there a way to do this?

sorry if im repetitive with my questions

depending in how you mount the sight you may be able to use both or you may not. If you mount the optic on the carry handle, you won't be able to use your irons without removing the optic unless you use something like this http://www.armsmounts.com/catalog.php?action=124&item_id=1. If you get this mount http://www.armsmounts.com/catalog.php?action=124&item_id=41 you can still use your irons and the optic without removing the mount with the added benfit of keeping your optic close to your bore line and minimizing the overall foot print of your rifle. There are similar set ups available from other sources(often cheaper to buy) but they may not allow you to use your irons. If at all possible, I would get your top in a flattop configuration, makes life easier and allows the use of about a dozen different folding and non folding back up iron sights (BUIS). like these ones http://www.armsmounts.com/catalog.php?action=110&cat_id=4\

Hope this helps.

Aaron, just a suggestion since I'm in the same boat and have considered the same set-up.

The Burris red dot is around $200US, Burris tactical ring is $30US but it's not quick detach. The ARMS (have to verify if it works with the Burris) quick detach is $100US. So to have the Burris with a quick detach setup is around $300US. Add to that the fact that it's an unproven optic I think I'm going to go with the Eotech 551, $330 including a somewhat quick detach mount, and it's in use by the military. Also it has a 1min dot for long range work and a bigger ring for up close. I think the Burris is a 3min dot.

My .02c for what it's worth.
