mounting redfield 3x9x40 on an axis

Medium height should be fine, however, due to the distance between the bases, I had to use double extension weavers to mount a Vortex on mine.
Hold your scope where you feel the eyepiece will be, for me it is usually about mid-way over the wrist of the stock and then check to see if the scope has enough body tube for the rings in that position. My mistake was to hold the scope over the rifle when I first got it and it looked like the rings would fit but later found that I couldn't position the scope far enough back for proper eye relief when the rifle was shouldered.

Let me guess, Vortex Diamondback? I had the same problem. I think its more of a Vortex thing. The Redfield's do have better eye relief, as well as many other leupold scopes.

Edit: weaver makes the extended rings. You can get them anywhere, really. I picked mine up at Cabelas
