Mounting Scout Scope

What would it take to have a scout scope mounted on a barrel? Would it have to have a quarter rib put on and then the bases attached to that or can the quarter rib be machined for the rings? I am thinking of a 416 Taylor on a large ring mauser with a scout scope in QD rings. Thanks for any insight.

I had a quarter rib made for my rifle. If your rifle has a quarter rib, it should not be a problem to have it inletted for your rings.

You could also get scope bases placed on the barrel, like the old Unertl scopes used.

I just modified a set of Leupold bases to scout mount the scope on my .500. It was quite easy and works great, especially if you have a section of barrel with little or no taper in that area. Here is a pic.
