Mounts for muzzleloader

Hi there,

I have no idea if I am going to be able to find this. But I have an old scope that I want to try out on my Remington 700mls. It's just 4x power but it would be nice for 100 yard shots to have it. Problem is I also like the open sightsfor shots in the bush or in closer range. I was wondering what the best thing for this would be? See through rings or a pivot mount. I already have weaver bases for this gun so it would be nice if I could get something that could work with those. Currently the scope is on an old weaver pivot mount which I would kind of like for this usage but the base doesn't fit this gun.

Any suggestions?

My suggestion would be Quick Detach mounts. I have them on both my wife's muzzleloader and mine. They are from Warne Manufacturing. Thompson/Center markets Warne rings and bases under their name as well.

They are esy to mount and the scope can be taken on and off and returns to zero. I have used Warne Q.D. rings on big bore rifles with the same results.
