Movie 'Animal House' and Milsurp

My late friend John Vernon ("dean Wormer"), told me that "Animal House" was a budget movie shoot in Oregon, and it was so cheap to produce that they were given "Rent a Wreck" rental cars to drive, while on the set :)

During John's memorial service last spring in Beverly HIlls, "Flounder" explained that he took John's advice during the scene were he barfed at "dean Wormer", when John as the dean Wormer told "Flounder": "This is no way to go through life", and "Flounder" became a movie producer himself.

John Vernons famous line in the "Animal House" movie: "I can have you out of here as fast as #### comming out of a goose", was his own !

One of the movies John Vernon acted in, and recommended me to watch was "Topaz", were he among others, shoots a woman with a 1911.

On of John's daughters, Kate Vernon, is an actress, an she playes in the new series of "Battlestar Galactica", episode #5, and Kate also expects to come back to Vancouver for further shooting of "Battlestar Galactica".

John loved life and woodworking, and made several of his own furniture.

The new DVD version of the "Animal House" movie, with much more added footage, is a must to own :)

What can I say, it's a classic. I expect that it was probably a fun project to have been involved with. Vernon was perfect as the evil (but can't quite get the job done) Dean.

He was good in The Outlaw Josey Wales, too. (R.I.P.)

John and Nancy had great parties in their Mulholland Drive home, overlooking the valley. Funny, late at night, the deer and coyotes from the still wild surrounding hills of inner Los Angeles and Beverly Hills, would jump into the gardens and trigger alarms and guard dogs. That was when the otherwise very well mannered John Vernon, would get out of bed and shout words, I did not think was in his wonderfully, and well developed english vocabulary. John also told me that at one point, a ####o movie was being made in a fancy house, just below his mansion, and he could see everyting from home, especialaly when they did a lot of the ####o movie, outdoors, around the pool :)

I also find that the Canadian General Consular office in Los Angeles, does a great job in promoting and supporting canadian actors, script writers, producers etc, as well as the general canadian business in California.
