Historically, I've never bothered about glass quality. Whatever the rifle comes with is generally what I'll use, usually a Weaver or Centerpoint. Over 40 trips around the sun, the eyesight isn't what it used to be and thought now is a good time to look for something better.
So after doing much reading I decided to bite the bullet and purchase something within my budget that would still be considered "quality ". Enter the Burris Fullfield IV 3-12x42 - was able to find one of the last in Canada for around $300. Upon inspection in the store I was very impressed by the clarity of the glass and sharpness of the reticle.
I now understand the difference between low and decent quality glass. I know it's not a Leupold or Swarovski, but it will certainly work for my intended purpose.
So glad I made the switch.
Mounting it is now another issue....need to install a rail.....the rings need to be closer together than the standard 2 piece rails will allow. Such is life, I suppose
