Will be moving in July out to BC. Just wondring who all hunts in BC here. In ontario i hunt deer, moose, black bear, upland game and a bit of goose once in a while. Bow, shotgun and rifle. Anyone up for a discussion on some things? Whats the crown land hunting opportunites like? Squaters rghts etc... also if anyone is looking for an avid hunter but new to the area to join a group or pair up for this season let me know. I am a safe hunter and avid outdoors person. PM or public replies welcome of course.

BC is pretty wide open and regs are easily understood.
no shooting areas and access/motor vehicle restrictions with good/decent maps are in the regs.
lots of BC hunters on this site.
although I personally stay away from the dedicated hunting forums, huntbc is propular
though I have not hunted much outside BC, I do think we have better access to animals/seasons and less restrictions than other provinces, but that's just my take on it.
there are a lot of different rod n gun clubs around lowermainland as well that you may want to check out, especially if you are also into fishing the rivers and such.
lots of waterfowl hunting in lowermainland in season.
deer hunting can be challenging but they do exhist. black bear hunting is pretty good in local mountains.
when I lived in the lowermainland, most of my decent hunting spots started about a 3 hour drive from lowermainland and much farther if moose or elk are on the tags.

and let me be the first to say..... in advance of your move..... welcome to the west ;)

Thank you. I was thinking about joining a club for a year or two and see how it goes. First on the docket is to take the BC hunting course and get my BC fishing license. I have some reading to do once I get settled in.

Where are you moving to? The Mission Rod and Gun Club is a great place. It is located in Mission, BC. I live in New Westminster and it is about 80 minutes away from me, but I still prefer that club over the others.

If you have an Ontario hunting license allready you don't need to take a hunters course out here. Just show up at a Access Center with proof that you live here, a bill in your name with your BC address on it is sometimes asked for and your Ontario outdoors card and they will take it from you and give you a BC one. I believe they say you have to live here for six months before getting a BC hunting license but I did it as soon I moved here along with my driver license.

Welcome to the wet coast. Pick up a BC Recreational Atlas. There is free camping at BC Forest Service Campsites, all that stuff is listed in the Atlas.

Welcome.

A lot of us are members at this hunting forum: ht tp://w w w.huntingbc.ca/

I can only get away for day hunts so I'm never far enough to have a decent chance for mulies. It is nice to get out even for a day of hunting every now and then.

I'm from the area.

Head up the coquilhalla highway past merrit and you're in good country.
Get a map of forest service roads and campgrounds. Good to go.

Good luck. Wish I could transplant my spouse, job and farm back to BC.

If you have an Ontario hunting card bring it and you will get issued a license after 6 months proof of residency.

Huntingbc . ca is where you want to join up for info. Definitky join a local club.

BC is a whole new experience to Ontario. Hunters paradise. Only thing you can't hunt GOS is bison and grizzly.

I second mission rod and gun being worth the drive. Where in ontario are you coming from/ moving to. Was born in Hamilton so I can say you won't be disappointed living out here.
