MP5 for sale in the EE

Yeah man, if I could have any gun to go shoot and own it would be the MP5 PDW

I'd get the MP5SD myself.
isn't there a Swiss gun that looks an awfully lot like the MP5 that is legal in Kanada?

ah back in the day...

I'm probably the stupidiest Canadian gun owner as I've sold myself out fo three Grandfathered classes...

I bought a Pakistani MP-5 in Afghanistan -- not bad (fun for the range - not not a good weapon for rifle country...)

You used to be able to, I believe there is a court case pending to allow prohibs back on the range.

There are at least a couple of guys here waiting a 'verdict' on the shooting ban

The Judges are 'reserving' there decisions until the antis pay them enough to say 'no'

(the above is purely conjecture...)

As for 'good gun -bad gun....the MP-5 collapsible stock is uncomfortable...the sights have no range adjustment...and its shoots much more accurately than any other 9mm

I am lucky enough to have some 12(x) & OIC #13 but I still cannot get an MP5 or even an HK94. That really blows.... but I do cherish my FN's!!!

The MP5 is the best 9mm SMG ever made. However, 9mm SMGs are a bit passé nowadays...

The thing about the MP5 is that it works for target shooting, that is why they are so popular among NFA guys in the US.

It's the most accurate SMG there is, plus because it's 9mm, you only need a pistol range to shoot it on. Spare parts are also easy to get, and there are plenty of mods for it.

I'm sorry, but the Steyr TMP or whatever it's called nowadays isn't a patch on the MP5, which is why Steyr sold the tooling to B&T, because no-one wanted to buy them. I had a Steyr SPP and I wasn't impressed. I wouldn't say it was a bad gun but it was nothing special. It had a heavy trigger, the cocking handle was flimsy and the sights were rubbish.

I'd take an MP5K or even a Glock 18 over it any day of the week. Which appears to be what everyone did. Plus it arrived too late, the P90 made more sense because of the AP requirement.

MP5s are chick guns!

M60s are for men!

Seriously, that realy sucks that the guys that own machine guns can't even shoot them.
When did this go into effect?
As you might have guessed, I'm not from Canada.
I'm in the US, Florida to be exact.

You need a special permit to take prohibs to the range in Canada, it's similar to the authority to cross State lines with an NFA weapon in the US (which in fact I think is what it is based on) but in Canada you need it to go from your home to the range, not just across State/Provincial lines.

Anyway, they would only ever issue the permits for full-autos for use on defence ranges, which aren't keen on letting private individuals use their MGs anyway. Semi-auto prohibs like the FAL, AK etc. could still be taken to private ranges, but due to a rather strange interpretation of the law the Canadian authorities have decided they can't issue permits for range use anymore. Only a different type of permit for taking them to gun shows, gun shops etc.

Bureaucracy is not your friend.

Anyone in Canada can jump in and explain how pissed off you are in the space below.

Thanks for the info.
I knew Canadians had to have permits for moving weapon, I just hadn't heard of the ban on firing the MGs. Last I knew it was a pain, but theoretically possible(used to have a Canadian friend that had a few that he rented to movie cos, been a while.)
So it sounds like they did what all governments do and reinterpreted a law/reg to match the current political agenda.
