mp5 Navy (like) 10/22

Some guy on the EE is selling an HK A2 stock for like $35. I believe it's the same stock on an actual Mp5. You should buy it and attach it to your chasis. It will make it look even closer to the a real mp5.

Well done, that is a really awesome build. I would love to get my hands on one. We need someone to produce a kit similar to this. The Marauder/Nomad kits were a hit and these would be too.

Little airwolf, you got me thinking there. Had I made a restricted firearm? With the stock installed, not even close. But, technically if someone wanted to go through the hassle of removing the rear stock, would it still make length? Actually, yes. Although impossible to get same dimensions as an mp5, I tried to get proportions as close as possible to keep that navy look. Because there is over 2 inches of the top and bottom piece behind the action and the tail piece that holds the top and bottom together is a couple inches deep, with the rear stock removed the gun just (28.09") makes legal length. I may have even designed that into the plans after talking to the RCMP before starting the build. It was, 10 months ago so I don't remember.

The good news is, there are no restrictions on it.

Looks great. A real HK stock would look awesome on it.

Might want to be very carefull when measuring and then trying to convert. Really should use metric measurements, not imperial. Your 28.09" is actually 713.4 mm and the minimum legal length is 660 mm. 660 mm is 25.98"

Conversions get people in trouble. Remember the Air Canadian flight that ran out of fuel (Gimley glider)? That was a conversion error.....

The only part of a real stock that I could use would be the end piece that goes against the shoulder. The current piece is my least favorite on the gun and will probably be changed down the road. The problem with any OEM part is the scale of the build. At the start, a few people said "cut and airsoft in half and insert ruger". The ruger is far too big for that option. Along with being too big, the components such as ejector port, magazine, trigger guard etc... would not line up.

When designing this build, I had to try and compromise between an mp5 looking gun and functionality of a working 10/22. When placed next to a picture of an mp5, the differences become obvious. That said, I think this is resembles it enough to be recognized as an alternative "similar" shape.

I will post a pic of the stocks as I have sanded them down and re-sprayed them making the textured bumps much finer and cleaner.

Thanks for the info about the stock but the rails certainly would not fit but I might be able to adapt the shoulder piece.

As for the conversion error, think of the story the cpt and fo have to tell for the rest of their lives. The sled they used retired from service a few years ago.

Anyone have a link to the stock on the ee? I also might need a g36 or similar stock for a potential build. :)

Duhhhh! I missed the "a2" part of the stock. 1. It is sold. 2. I doubt that it would match up with my gun as I am not the same scale as an actual mp5 and due design vs function, my round tubes may not be exact in proportion to the real gun.

I researched the promag and saw a lot of bad reviews. I might look into them again as they are very close to the MP5 mag.

For now, I only have a butler creek. I included a not so great close up of the the re-painted front stock. As you can see, the dimples are tighter and smaller. The dried surface feels like plastic so that part of the project turned out as planned.

The first photo is for you wham-o. It includes the gratuitous foot shot:)

Too early to tell about durability but it does look and feel very solid and durable. Even if it wears a bit, I will be able to repair it easily down the road.
