I have a question for you MP5 experts (Bartok?) Manual of arms on loading seems to be #### back and engage cocking handle in notch effectively holding bolt back, change mag, slap or release handle. My question is, can these not be loaded on a closed bolt with a full 30rd mag? Is it just that hard to seat. I know at work with a full mag on a closed bolt on my C8 it is difficult but a swift snap of the mag usually seats it.

Possible but hard to seat.
As you mentioned, HK academy teaches... bolt back, change mag, slap with meaty part of your hand to get it back into action.

Cheers,

Are you loading 28 or 30?

Just an FYI, mags get "seriously" underrated in the operation of the carbine, pay attention to the feed lips etc.

Yes they can be a ##### sometimes to seat properly on a closed bolt. I don't even try anymore, I just lock the bolt back regardless.

also keep in mind that while your C8 mag is straight and it is easy to give it a quick tap on the bottom of the mag to help seat, an MP5 mag is longer and curved making a tap on the bottom both slightly more difficult and less effective.
