Mpi stocks

I bought a Kimber Mt assent, .260, Of Jess S, on Alberta Outdoors, that has the MPI ultralight stock, rifle is very light, 5lbs 2oz, :d
Have not taken it off rifle, but guessing its around 13-15 OZ, its also very slim, and small in the pistol grip,
Ive marked it up a fair bit, due to the steep Mountain country I use it in,
I also had the rear sling stud, pull out of the stock, reglued in with a Devon putty,
I don't know, if I would get another one, when/if I broke or damaged this one, the stud pulling out kinda soured me a bit, I think an extra 3-4 oz for a bit more metal, and strength, may in the long run be wise,
I priced up getting a spare, they expensive.
Every time I take a slip or side, in the steep papa country, close to my Taranaki home, I expect to hear a crack, of that slim pistol grip.

I had one on MRC 1999 for awhile. Very light but that's about all it had going for fit. Springy fore end and a lot of finishing needed. would also fit a M70.

Swapped it out for Accurate Inovation stock that is basically opposite in every way. Stiff as a bridge timber, and about as heavy.

Stuart at Wildcat showed me an MPI stock in his shop when he was building mine. By the time you get it where it will be finished and reliable it will be heavier. I would go for the brown pounder or wildcat.

Thxs I have a Brown LB er on one of my rifles now and 2 of Stuarts Wildcats on others - Just going to build a CRAZY light rifle - I know there cant be much to one of the MPI s at 12 oz s bare :sok2 RJ

If you get a chance, I'd like to see what a couple of your light weight rifles look like/weigh. I'd like to do another Remington, but have been turned off by some of the barrel tappers on the light weight guns. For now, my tikka superlite in a McMillan edge is about 5.5lbs. The 22" barrel at the muzzle is about .630" which seems way better than the pencil barrels with a hard taper down to about .520". It must be the action weight of the tikka being a lot? less than the Remington action?

I'd like to see some pics of a MPI micro as well.

I just had my gunsmith inlet a MPI lightweight Kevlar Kimber pattern to fit a model 700 LVSF in 7-08. The finished bedded stock weighs 20oz and the rifle comes in a 7lbs scoped.
