The regulator for my Mr Heater catalytic heater crapped out. I've got a regulator from an air compressor, it's made of composite (plastic) and brass. I put it on there to try to see if would work and it controlled great! I tested it outside.

I'm going to give it the 'Real Cool Snoop' leak test. If it leak tests OK, then I would think it would be alright to use...

Do you think this would be safe to use, as this heater has to be used inside a building or tent? Or would you get a regulator designed for propane?

FYI, it leak tests just fine.

The body of the regulator, that all the pressure connections fit into is actually aluminum, with brass inserts that the hose, propane fittings, gauge and such thread into. Only the top components of the regulator are composite material.

Compared the POS factory regulator, this thing is vastly superior, and the components are pretty much the same. Regulators are pretty simple devices.
