Mr223 bcg?

I wouldn't use another BCG, not saying that it wouldn't work, however it may damage the rifle? void the HK warranty etc.
Right now you're going to have to be content with switching back & forth, with the dollar down and HK parts taking awhile to show up, your pretty limited in where you can source one from.
If a used one shows up on the EE, buy it! Good Luck.

Hey CGN,

For those of you that have jumped on the HK MR223 stripped upper where have you sourced your BCG's from?

Or am I reading wrong and the standard BCG's for gas piston will suffice?

Pro Patria

There is no such thing as standard gas piston BCG. Your number 1 issue is that you have no idea if the whatever non-HK BGC's push rod contact point is not the same as the HK. If it is different, the push rod or the BGC could be out of position, or there is a gap between the push rod and the BGC.

As always grentips you have come to the obvious as to why I asked my question. Next time I will be sure to give more detail. I am aware that the best is HK to HK noting all the differences I can find. As I don't have two side by side, say like an LMT piston BCG or a replacement gas key for gas piston, I cannot compare.

If someone has this, it would be interesting to know, as Mildot stated its near impossible for replacements, so being a tinkerer I like to look at possibilities.

I've read some stuff on HKPRO about using, or trying to use an Adam Arms BCG? conversion?, or some have even tried the reverse. All piston systems are proprietary, so that's the risk. Side by side it may look the same, but the weight may? be different, and you may get stuff like "carrier tilt" etc. I get that you like/want to "tinker" but it could get expensive? Good Luck.

Almost forgot, the firing pin safety, or the lack of it, may raise some "safety" issues for ya as well?

Have no fear CGN, I would not Willy nilly do this. Education and knowledge is key.

If I had comparable I would definitely micrometer, weight and check the differences. That's the tinkering part. Even if someone said "blank" works fine, I too would check specs before using, that would just give a starting point right?

My quest for knowledge is never ending!

Heres up I did:
Buy the upper (easy)
Get a handguard (easy. I got a Midwest one)
Find a lower and get a milspec trigger for it (easy. I got a SSA HK for my first MR223 so I had the old HK trigger that I put into this lower)

Now for the hard part. You are still missing complete BCG and also from what I've seen online, you will also need HK buffer spring and buffer. I thought ok, better be safe than sorry, so I'll get the spring and buffer instead of using the G super 42 that I have lying around. Found the BCG and the spring and buffer by posting WTB ads on the EE and waiting a long time for someone to find me.

So now my upper is on a PWS lower and rifle is complete

The package thats being offered by the importer is not very good. You cannot just put the upper on other AR lowers. HK416 uppers are sold with complete BCG and buffer spring and buffer.
If no one else is willing to sell their complete bcgs and buffer spring/buffers, then you wont be able to piece it all together.
