MRA Maverick max barrel length?

I have a MRA Maverick that I currently have built up with a light profile 16" barrel in 308 win. I'm toying with the idea of making it into a long range plinker preferably still in 308win. I have been eyeing up an IBI barrel for it and they state on their website that they will custom make a barrel to any length. How long is too long for the Maverick style receiver? Will a heavy profile barrel that is 24" long flex the receiver? Any thoughts or experiences.

It's and AR upper. It's not really going to be an issue with proper torque of the barrel nut.
It would be a little excessive, but atleast you can always cut it down.
 
I am a big proponent of, the right tool for the job. If you want a long range rifle, then buy a long range rifle. The AR platform was simply not designed for what you want to use it for. Could it work? Maybe, but it will always be a compromise and you will be fighting the platform.
