Even if you had AR-10-ish rifles back tomorrow, a short one would be restricted, and you could be still use this short boy for a truck/tractor/ATV gun with enough oomph you could get out of the cab, get your ticketed Deer, and drag it home, should luck be with you. It also has enough oomph to give a bear or cougar attacking you a bad day!

I have shot the 12.5" 308 Maverick. Great gun! Jungle carbine 2.0.

TIP: Go with a fast powder! It keeps the muzzle flash and report down to normal levels. Say, 35 grains of IMR4198 pushing a 125 -130 grain suppository.
