MRA Maverick question

I have a Maverick build in 308, I like it, super fun. My questions are, why do we need a heavier buffer spring? Do we need a buffer spring at all? I understand that it's great having the spring return the bolt into battery and strip your new cartridge but can a fella get rid of the spring and just go both ways manually?

If you want a like a bolt action ( buy a bolt action) not a spring assist!

I would say the spring is there to help hold the bolt carrier (and bolt) in battery.

I'm still on the fence on these mavericks. How is the ejection with the .308 ?
Honesty I have not been paying much attention to reviews or commentary on these but I was interested when they were first coming out
