I got a 2-pack of Muddy Mitigator 2 cameras for Christmas and haven’t been able to activate either one.

Both cameras power on normally, but the included SIM cards will not activate or connect to my account. I’ve tried everything I could find online, including removing and reinserting batteries, SIM cards, and SD cards, and following the activation steps exactly.

I called Muddy customer service. The rep said I shouldn’t be having these issues, escalated the case, and told me I’d hear back in about 3 days. It’s now been 8 days with no response. I understand the holidays may slow things down, but I’m disappointed because I was hoping to use them while I was off work.

To rule out a bad unit, I exchanged the original cameras for another identical 2-pack, and the replacement cameras have the exact same issue.
I’ve heard that sometimes U.S.-based cellular trail cameras need manual activation, but customer service told me that isn’t the case and that I shouldn’t need to call to activate them.

Has anyone else had this issue with Muddy cameras?

Best use that I have found for the Muddy cams is to wear out a set of batteries and then take up some space in the trash.

Every few years I get sucked in by the price and think maybe they will have the bugs worked out.

Try Ridgetec Lookout X cellular cameras if you want rugged reliable performance. Can be ordered from Alberta and if you need advice on setup or any other questions the tech you will be communicating with is the CEO, Owner, inventor and a genius computer programer…and he responds immediately because these are his babies. No you just can’t grab them off a shelf at Crappy Tire or Bass Pro but actually have to order them direct. Most of my friends are cheap and buy the crap and then I hear all the wine, which goes well with spaghetti and meatballs. I have seven cameras in operation and from the time a camera is triggered to the time I get a picture on my cell phone is 28 seconds… pretty awesome.

I have six Muddy Mitigator 2 trail cameras, and so far, all of them work well. The only thing I've noticed is that when the battery gets low, the camera can no longer connect to send pictures, though it still continues to take them. This happened several times; I thought the cameras were dead, but when I went to check them, they were still working. As soon as I replaced the batteries, they reconnected and sent all the stored pictures to the app. I really like this feature. I hope you will find a fix for that buddy, good luck!

I used the new batteries in them so I dont think thats the issue. I can try different batteries to test tho. Trying to get help from customer service now but they are very very slow.

When I scan the qr code to activate it loads for like 10 second then says it failed. 4 cameras now.have done this. Which makes me think its user error but I'm following theor instructions 🤷‍♂️

I know it may be a dumb question, but do you have your antenna already connected? Make sure you have, just in case.

Yup connected, the people on the cusstomer service call asked me tat first too😂 The second led is green, im at work now but if I remember correctly thats the one for the network connection. The 3rd keeps turning red, camera takes pictures to the SD card no problem. If I dont get any help from customer service before the return window ends ill likly be returning them
