I also read the good reviews and threw caution to the wind. I bought two, one with a red dot and one without. The red dot scope worked great for the fist 20 shots or so, but then the elevation dial became loose. I sent it back and they sent me another but I never could get it zeroed in correctly. The scope without the red dot started causing bad groups after about 100 rounds, at first I thought this was due to bad ammo, but when I replaced the scope with an old Kollmorgen ( highly recomended ) scope the problem was solved. I no longer own a Mueller scope and will never get another.

Mueller scopes
I have two Mueller scopes that I have bought from Phil at Whitefalls. I haven't used them much yet but so far I am quite pleased with them and wouldn't hesitate to buy another. Don't know his phone no. but you can e-mail him at whitefalls@mts.net Hope this helps

Well here's an update...i've had mine for almost 2 years now and it is FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!

I have a 4.5-14x40 APV on my .17HMR bolt gun. It came with the gun, so it wasn't "chosen" by me. Having said that, it's a decent enough scope, one step above "entry level" like Tasco. It's taken a good few rounds through the .17 with no issues.
Having said that, for a .17 I prefer the Bushnell Banner 6-24x40 AO of the scopes in the same price range. I'm changing out the Meuller and putting it on a .22, where magnification at ranges over 100 yards is not so much of an issue.
(I'd really like to change to a Leupold, but one day, one day....)

Which model? I am a fan of the APV. Mine is working well.
