I wish I knew how to post a poll.
Edit......whoot I did it...... :D
Sorry for the iffy photo.
There were two bucks on the road and with the pup onto them
and a SUV coming down the road, this photo is the best of the two.
So, Muley or Whitey?

more than a few muley / whitetail hybrids running around a few hours north of you , kamlooky .
that does look like it should be white tail though .

This is south of me and I am of the opinion it's a whitey also.
I have seen 50/50 does this time of year, but never a whitetail buck.
There were two together and in velvet.
I may get another chance to see these two again as they were just
off the city limits and in amoung the homestead acerages.

I say mule, because of the antler on the right side, it grows straight up and branches forward off it and the left from what i can see looks like a Y, also the tail looks white on the top similar to a mule with a black tip.

That's a mulie... 100%.

That is what I told Kamlooky, when he sent me the picture.

Edited to say that the three points mentioned above; antler direct branch, the big ears, and the white on the bum, were three reasons I said it was a mule deer.

Without a better view of the rear end, I can't be sure. I am sure that trying to use the antlers to judge species is totally unreliable, as I have killed whitetails with forked antlers, and mule deer with no forks.

The more I look at the photo, the more it is a muley.
So crow for looky tanight.
Hfourtyeightturdyone, not sure why I argue with you........... :D
I will learn one day not to..... :)
