is there any other millspec ammo collectors hear? i have a giant collection that i have decided to try to sell. ive been collecting for 40 some years now. almost all under 40 mm. anyways just gaugeing to see if there is any interest hear

Do you have the collection listed by calibre/headstamp?

Any serious collector will want to know what you have in some detail before considering a purchase. If you do have it listed let me know as I would be interested to see it.

You should have no problem finding Ball Mark IV and V hollow point rounds in Canada. Correct Indian made Mark II Specials (Dum-Dums) will be harder to find though.

Ordinary round nosed Ball Mark II or Mark VI should also be easy to find.

Are you a member of the International Ammunition Association?

Always interested in collectible military ammo!
As Tony said, pics or a listing would be a big help in determining level of interest.

Canadian-made hollow-point MkIV and MkV .303 rounds are fairly common in US and Canadian cartridge collecting circles.

Beater, I recently saw a 40 year old collection of 30-06 and 303 Brit that went for sale by an estate. The collector was active right up to his last days. Everything was catalogued and cased in specially built trays/cabinets.

I felt sorry for his heirs, that weren't the least bit interested in the ammo.

They were talked into parting out this collection which had well over 2000 individual pieces and almost as many headstamps/bullet configurations.

The collector had made some inquiries into the US and had some very reasonable offers. The biggest problem came when the import laws, concerning ammunition were imposed.

Sadly, the collection was parted out at 30% of its real value.

Good luck with your disposal sale.

As a collection in Canada it might be hard, you could try an auction, like Bud Hayes (which I have never been too, but who I know handle ammo), they could likely break it down into lots for sale.
Otherwise I can only think of a few collectors in Canada who might want to take it it on. The problem is a collection is an individuals desires, not necessarily something many others would want, or at least want to pay for while they part it out.
Personally depending on what was in it I would be interested, but in truth would be looking for the items I wanted, and parting the rest out.
Caryridge show in Edmonton in November, that might be a good place to try and sell it in big chunks, or as a single collection.

yes i know its going to be tough. personally rather than letting an auction take 30% from me i have decided to post some hear and sorta part it out, get a feel for the interest. so stay tuned, i will be posting some for sale in the exchange section shortly. i figure i may as well give my fellow gunnuts the 30% as well as an auctioner

There is a gunshow close to Montreal on the 8th of september and there at least one serious collector that always has a table there... I could pass on your contact info...

I would be interested in 13mm german WW1 tanhgewehr rounds as well as 14.5mm russian AT rounds myself!
