So I recently bought two used multi pump air rifles. A crosman 1322 and a crosman 2200 magnum. My question is how do you guys use them? What I mean by the question is for example: if you were useing them for hunting would you a) walk around with the rifle fully pumped up ready to go or b) wait till you see what you want to shoot and then pump it the 10 or so times. I read you should store these types of guns with a few pumps in them. If this is true then I don’t see I problem walking around with it pumped up for an extended amount of time. But maybe someone with more experience with these types of guns can share some insight.

The noise of you pumping will scare them away. So would go in with it pumped. A good gun should stay sealed for the time you need it.

Yes 1 or 2 pumps to keep the poppet sealed when stored.

I grew up with 760's, a 2200 and a 1322. I have a couple 1322's and a 2200 still, although not my originals. I'd go through a tin of 500 a day growing at my families farm, all that pumping made me pretty ripped in the arms LOL. Pump and pump and leave them, no problem. Pump, walk around, pump some more. Some rifles had bleed valves, some did not, those with were easily 'fixed'. The 1322 doesn't have a bleed valve obviously, be careful with the 1322 as it's classed as a pistol, so you don't want to go over 500fps. If you've got a chronograph, do some experimenting.

Unlike CO2 guns, these work in the cold. The only issue is the piston cup will sometimes not seal. I used to open the pump, and wrap my hand around the tube over top of the piston and cup to warm it up and allow a reload in the cold. Didn't feel so great, but I never stuck my tongue to it lol There are pistons around that use an o-ring and should defeat this issue compared to the ones that had an actual cup that would shrink.
