With the 14" bbl on my Mossy, and the registration showing it to have a "barrel less than 470mm," what has to be done if I choose to replace the short barrel with a longer one for hunting (temporarily, of course)? Am I required to notify the CFC?

On the paper my shotgun registration certificate came on it says.

Firearm owners must report to the registrar of firearms, within 30 days:

- Any modification to the firearm that affects its classifications
(non Restricted, Restricted, Prohibited);
- Any modification that results in the firearm ceasing to be a firearm;
- Any change to a frame of receiver that allows it to discharge ammunition;
- Any modification to the type, auction, calibre or gauge of the firearm; and
- Any modification to an altered automatic firearm.

What a good question. I have never thought about it before. I just exchanged barrels on a number of occaisions without thinking about what the CFC has to say about it.
