Multiple magazines

Because they can, there is nothing in the FA that says you can't. I have between 10 and 20 per gun. I go target shooting there is no reloading. Show up with my box of mags and bang, bang.

First; why do you need to understand?
Second; because.

I have 27 mags for 1 rifle, and I'm looking for more.
When I go shooting I want to shoot, I don't want to hang out loading mags.

My current range is limited when you can place your target up and down, so I get time to reload and am just curious, just trying to see if there is a reason beside "because" (Which is allowed)

To me it depends on what gun, most of my hunting rifles have 2-3 mags, mainly if I ever lose one I have a spare handy. Range guns & pistols I have 3-5 mags for each one. Plus once in a while they get damaged and cause feeding problems, with a spare mag its an easy fix.

8 is alot? Lol! More like, "an order."

Yeah, buy 'em 8 at a time.
Why do gun owners order multiple magazines for rifles? I can understand owning 2 or 3 to practice reloads and quick changes, but some people have 4 or 6. What is the purpose of having so many magazines? I understand if shooting in IPSC or IDPA but having a rifle like like 858 why have 8 magazines?

Do u buy one peanut at a time or a bag full. I go to the range to shoot not sit there reloading. When u can only fire 5 in a row it takes 6 mags to equal one regular capacity mag.

1) Because it's my money and I'll spend it how I see fit.
2) There's no reason not to have multiple mags. They can get damaged or lost and depending what you own, may be hard to locate at times.
3) Ever try shooting a 20-30 round course of fire with only two or three 5/30 mags ??

I have to use 6 magazines to match what I can load into one down south. So I own 18 magazines in Canada which would be equivalent to 3 in USA.

See, to me 2 & 3 make sense, and helps me see why I would want to have more than 2 magazines, for shooting a course. I have edited my question to reflect this

I understand if shooting in IPSC or IDPA but having a rifle like like 858 why would / should I buy / have 8 magazines?

EDIT* Its a free country I don't care if you do it because you want to, I'm curious to people to see what benefits others get? as i'm relatively new (under 5 years) so I only own 5 mags for my IPSC pistol where it will be required.

Because they dont want to screw around reloading magazines when they should be having fun shooting im guessing.

1) saves from spending more time rebombing mags vs. Shooting

2) i only use some, the other are back ups in case I lose mags or some become N/S

3) makes more sense to me to buy a 6 pack than a single beer
