HI,
yesterday i shot 60 -70 rounds from my new savage 10fp le, numerous times i thought i had shells that didnt go off, but actually the pin did not strike at all. Does anyone know why , , what am i doiong wrong is my new baby screwed????

Further note i was babying the bolt when unloading since i was saving my spent casings. Also i was not as deliberate with the bolt when closing the action . Does this make a difference, i appreciate any and all useful input on this .

cheers

Paul

I friend of mine had the same problem with an accutrigger. He had to make sure he hit the trigger extension FIRST. If you pulled on the trigger and extension at the same time it didn't unblock the firing pin and when the sears released we heard a click but the firing pin only hit the trigger block.

That's how it was explained to me. I don't own one though. Maybe someone else can confirm/correct me on this matter???

I have a older Savage 111 in 300 win mag. If it is very cold out, you may have a problem with frozen oils in the sear. Next check the adjustment on the trigger mech. I just installed a new timiny in mine, and from what I understand the new Savage comes with a similar setup. It could be a simple adjustment. When I first set up the Timiny trigger, I had it adjusted precisely as the instructions suggested, but the sear would not fall all the way. A simple 1/16 turn counter clockwise on the front set screw and all is well again. Good luck.

Raider556 is ABSOLUTELY right! I have two savage rifles with the accutrigger and I have seen this happen when someone has never used an accutrigger before... They contact the side of the trigger rather than the center, where the accutrigger HAS to be touched FIRST...

Betcha that's what you were doing! Further betcha that there is nothing wrong with your rifle... Just try it at home with a UNLOADED rifle, touch the side of the trigger without touching/compressing the center and the gun will go "click" but NOT allow the firing pin to be hit...

Cheers
Jay
