I was a member of
MVRRC for many years, until this year, when I let it lapse.
The reason I originally joined MVRRC was because of the 360 degree range...which they have since closed.
They have also banned holster use except for those individuals who have taken a '
holster course' (as defined by them), and have also started to ban particular holsters - including many holsters that I have used at MVRRC and elsewhere, uneventfully, for years - even for those who have taken a '
holster course' (as defined by them).
Every month, if not sooner, there was a new email advising of new (on-the-fly) rules changes - i.e.: that this range was closed, or that range now prohibited steel, or that this parking area must not be used, or that that target stand must be used for this (but not for that), or that Tannerite was now allowed, or that Tannerite was now prohibited, or that Tannerite was now allowed on such-and-such range with such-and-such stand, or that Tannerite was prohibited again.
It became a bureaucratic exercise in complexity that seemed to defy common sense, so, when visiting MVRRC, I started the practice of finding an RO, introducing myself, and asking if I could proceed to do what I wished to do. Most of the time, I was told that that range was closed (today), or that I could not use that range for that (anymore), or that I could use that range but not with that target (anymore), etc., etc., etc.
It was all too much; this year, I let that membership lapse.
My opinion? I'd suggest that you look at both
NSRA and
AMA.
