Bought a restricted (private sale) on July 9th and got the transfer letter today! In Ontario! Last summer I waited 6 weeks for one. Probably feeling guilty over the ATT flap :rolleyes: TC
 
I know I know... I initiated a transfer on the 8th (last week) and didnt bother calling till today only to find that it had been approved on the 9th... HOLY CRAP. I waited 30 business days this summer for a private transfer. Things must have been REALLY backlogged then and must be pretty clear now.

I actually like the one girl at the Ontario CFO office. She's cool and really helpful. She told me not to bother calling in my STATT's for picking up guns at the post office, just email her and she'll email me the paperwork within an hour. The last time I called she said "I see you do alot of buying and selling". I said "yes, I do". She said "theres no point in you waiting on hold to call in every STATT... just Email them straight to me and ill send the paperwork in less than an hour". How cool is that. I bet she hates her boss.

We can only hope this catches on with all the CFO's offices and they hire a lot more people like this girl.

transfers have been particularly fast in the last 2 months. I noticed that the CFO is only working until 5, they were working until 8PM until not very long ago.
 
I have been dealing with the same woman since day one which was five years ago. My circumstances are such that I'm frequently in a rush. Every transaction has been smooth, professional and friendly. I always ask for her by name and generally handle things with email. There have been a few occasions where I've dealt with a man with the same results. I follow a few simple "rules" when dealing with people in situations like this and most of the time common person-to-person courtesy and a touch of gratitude work very well.
 
I bet you anything that this has something to do with the actual court actions filled by the CSSA and the new restrictions in the ATT. They have to prove to a judge that their jobs are needed and that they are efficient in following and executing the procedures for such requirements (att, gun registry, etc) to exist.
IMHO, It seems to me that they have a timeline to prove that they are useful or otherwise some Jobs, Government contracts, and legislations might be scrapped out...

I do not see why they would improve their times otherwise
 
I sold 2 guns in the last 72 hours, all transfers completed. I bought another from an user of this forum, transfer completed as well.
Something is going on.
