Just wondering how effective the SKS muzzle brake is. Since I will using my SKS primarily for hunting deer at close range in the think bush, I was figuring if it works it would be good to have for making those quick second and maybe third shots. I checked some out, and there seems to be many different kinds and sizes. Some that twist on and use set pins, some that use a longer sight pin, and some that connect using the cleaning rod. Does anyone have an opinion on which one is the best to get, or if it is even worth getting ? Oh, I also saw some SKS front sight posts made of bright colors...any good ?

The ones I saw were on the sksman website and were only plastic and were like $5, but I just ck'd out what you got and that sight seems pretty kewl. Do you have both front and rear sights or just the front one?

I picked up one of the "slip on and fasten using roll pin" style. Had to take it to a machine shop to have it remachined to actually fit over the muzzle. I guess it was worth it. It is the style with two holes on the top and slots on the sides. One thing to keep in mind either way, if you have a muzzle brake you can no longer use the cap on your cleaning kit as a muzzle guard for cleaning.
