Hey everyone

Just ordered a 16.5" rem 700 in 308 and am looking for something to replace the ugle thread protector.

I've had a brake on some I my previous 308s and I don't like the concussion and noise. I'm not recoil sensitive either.

Do flash hiders mess with accuracy at all? Is there any 7.62 brakes out there that toss noise forward?

What are some brands others are using of flash hiders and brakes?

Just tryin to figure out my options

Thanks

AAC BRAKEOUT™ 51T Compensator, the day I get my 5.56 barrel, it will be going on my XCR. Why you may ask? Easy AAC M4-2000™ Fast-Attach 5.56mm Silencer :p I cant have it now, but I will find a way one day!!!

Sorry to hijack this thread...but I just bought a .308 with a threaded barrel and I'm shopping for a muzzle break.

Could you tell me where you've bought some of your previous .308 brakes? And maybe which ones you liked? (aside from the noise)

I like the Bennie Cooley Signature Series muzzle break, but can't find a supplier in Canada.
I've looked at the Grizzly Gun Works site and their hunter muzzle break looks bad-ass but at $190.00 a bit too expensive more me.

Could you throw me a bone?
Thanks,
Jeff.

I used the defcon 1 from grizzly. It worke well just to much concussion. Thinkin there ghost protocol might work better for that and be a little less concussive

Brakes divert gases from going forward and allowing that gas to impinge on the brake itself driving it forward.

By design, a brake has to increase "noise" to the shooter.

And as you found, a short barreled rifle WITH a brake is horrid. That is simply a problem with too much muzzle pressure now diverted through the brake towards you.

For this rifle, the best way to reduce the noise signature to you is called a ploop tube. Essentially a long tube running forward from the muzzle with the ID the same as the OD as the barrel. Say 6 to 8".

Yes, it is just a hunk of pipe threaded to the barrel. If noise is the problem, this simple add on works extremely well.

But then, not a short rifle anymore.

Grizzly Gunworks Defcon 1.
I own one and works. make sure you call Jeff first and hi will guide you to send the proper measurements.

muhahahah shooting buddies shall hate me ! I love the looks of the hunter... Evil and scary haha. Its just to over the top, don't know if I could. on the edge of defcon one or ghost protocol

Edit defcon 1 looks easiest to clean.

There was a sick looking dark metal brake on the ee that would work for you. Not sure if it is still there or not. If I didn't pick up a brake out already, I would for sure grab the dark metal.
