Muzzle Brakes

I would check with "guntech" on here. I would guess he would have some of his own brakes on hand, or if you want a "store bought" I recommend the vais.

The 7RUM is gonna be a bigger Boomer with that muzzle brake.
guntech is one of many of the reputable gs on here.
Iirc, he maybe booked for vacation right around now, but look him up and shoot him an email over private message was/is his preferred method of communications.
Have fun with that boom stick!

I just had a Badger Thruster installed on a 7rem mag, very effective brake, I'd say it's in the 7-08 ballpark now for recoil.
Your options will be limited by your barrel diameter at the muzzle though.

No offence hitzy but that looks awful, it looks foreign and out of place

I had zero concerns about aesthetics, this was strictly about effectiveness. Turning the brake down to barrel diameter reduces the size of the baffles, reducing effectiveness. Also for bench shooting you don't really want any top ports as it gives a bit too much push downwards, this limits options. The Thruster design is one of the better ones for the type of long range shooting I do. I can see bullet impacts it's that steady on the bags now.
I'd let my 6 year old shoot this thing recoil is so mild.
Here is a $6000usd rifle with the same brake installed, same profile.

Didn't mean any offence by it just thought the smith would have shouldered the brake to meet the barrel contour od

He would have if I wanted to pay extra for it, can't blame him lol.
And honestly, the whole thing is ugly... that M40 style stock is hideous to me. I was going to go with a Badger FTE originally and that's even bigger and uglier then the Thruster lol.
But the rig shoots, and shoots comfortably. I've tried dozens of different brakes on everything from 223 to 338mag, and most of them do very little to actually reduce recoil, these ones work very well.

Ill msg him
I know the muzzle brake will make will increase the boom, but then maybe it will tighten my groups up. Im thinking the recoil may be affecting my shooting. On the other hand I havent shot any other ammo except what came with it, 140 gr Nosler.

If you have a brake installed, NEVER fire even a single shot without hearing protection. Even one shot with a brake can permanently damage your hearing.

I like that BO Thruster brake. I think I might put one on my 700 long range to take the edge off recoil. Might get my machinist buddy to turn the shoulder edge down a bit first but we will see.
That will cost me a few beers .............might be cheaper to just get the gunsmith do it........

Just bought a Fat B gen2 from insite arms for a 338 Edge build. Gets good reviews but I haven't got the gun built yet. It's a big brake and needs a heavy barrel.
