Muzzle braking a semi 22

Would you put a brake on a benchrest semi if that was it's one and only purpose in life?

With no recoil to tame, or muzzle rise to compensate for.... Why?

A 'brake' on a semi .22 Rimfire rifle would be for looks. I seriously doubt there would be any accuracy advantage...

How ever on a much lighter .22 rapid fire pistol a brake seems to help in the rapid fire competition.

In my mind "Benchrest" and "Semi Auto" are conflicting terminology...

Benchrest in my mind is the ultimate in accuracy, something not obtained with a semi auto.

I'm referring to the Thompson Centre R55 "benchrest" model. It spends it's life purely for target/benchrest shooting

Might you be referring to a barrel tuner, not a muzzle brake?

Rimfire brakes are very effective on pistols......pretty much useless on a rifle.

Look cool yes. As a tuning aid possibly.
