Muzzle break shredded/molted...?

Hi, as I mentioned previously I had the barrel of my m305 cut and threaded and a new muzzle break installed by Dlask arms. Today I dismounted it to remove the gas piston and I noticed the metal inside the bore of the beak has shredded, as if I had shot through it... This can't be normal can it? What do you think?

Maybe it was a burr from milling the slots that got pushed out after firing. Pretty big burr to get through phosphating and QC though.

It looks like the brake was 223 diameter. Also it is wise to check the barrel if it did not swell anywhere.

Their XB-6 does come in 30 and .223/5.56 calibers: maybe a .223 didn't get the proper 1/2"x28 thread and got a 5/8"x24 thread instead... and then ended up on your rifle.

Mistakes happen with the best, so I'd check it out if it was mine. Plus, if that ends up the case maybe Dlask has more than one and would like to know before something really bad happens.

This is what I thought immediately. I left an email with Dlask before I came to you guys, but I know they are pretty hard to reach by by email. Me I can't get answers from them. So maybe I'll leave them a call tomorrow.

I can't believe the amount of trouble and bad luck I'm going through with these %£€}# rifles.

sadly, the service and attention to detail at Dlask arms has gone downhill based on my experiences ever since Joe started playing less of a role and leigh has been the "front man".
Sorry to those that will offend but as a 20+ year dedicated customer..... I've got a right to #####.
the last work I had done was a norinco barrel chop and thread, asked for 18.5" , instead it was cut and crowned right behind the flash hider mounting detail so was finished at 19.75".
I know 100% leigh did the work, he took it from me and handed it back to me. I didn't ##### because A) Joe has for the last 12 years or more, always extended me a 30% discount as a long time customer. B) joe was standing right there talking to me when leigh gave me the barrel and I didn't feel like making him look like an ###### in front of joe. C) I live 6 hours from dlask and was in a hurry to make the drive home LOL

can't tell ya how many times I have emailed dlask arms in the past year since leigh has played a major role and not gotten an answer , or got an answer as if I was just some one off customer instead of someone who has spent thousands over 20 years.

the dlask arms of old, with joe at the helm, I think is over as Joe told me many times recently he was going to retire. I would like nothing more to continue dealing with them but not at the level of service I have been reduced to and not with the current "new blood" running under Joe's trusted and reliable Dlask Arms banner.
sorry for my rant, been wanting to get that off my chest for a while now.

looks to me like they gave you a .223 muzzle device. Glad you are okay and did not incur any injury. I'd also agree with others that you should be getting your barrel inspected pronto.

I don't mean to sidetrack your thread OP, but I had a problem with a shipment from Dlask. I emailed them, and left a post on their forum.

They didn't bother to reply. They'll never get another dime out of me.

Glad that you weren't injured. Maybe someone here can recommend a competent gunsmith that takes customer service seriously.

not to mention the ridiculous gouging going on with the inflated prices of their 80% 1911 offerings ever since Leigh showed up and started taking over. 200$ price increase on a 80% frame LOL suckers are born every minute and I ain't one

Just to keep you up to date, he answered my email and said he would replace my muzzle break and, if needed, my barrel.

We'll see how it goes.

Funky problem... sure looks like a 223 cal brake on a 308 cal gun...

You should put a flashlight through the backside of the hole to get light in there... I am assuming the metal has all been blown or forced forwards, and there should be only carbon, no parkerizing left if that is the case.

If there is any parkerizing left, you have a seriously funky conundrum going on.

I think I know what you mean, here are to closeup pics. The inside is black and looks like parkerising.
