Thinking of putting a break on my hunting rifle. It isn't a threaded barrel and is not a bull type barrel. I don't want to get the barrel threaded. What are a few good options?

Talk to Jeff at Grizzly Gun Works in Hamilton ON. He will likely be able to help you out. They offer a fairly big selection including "clamp-on" brakes which do not require a threaded barrel.

I have one from Grizzly and am very satisfied with the performance. It's a clamp on. You have to take two very precise measurements at the end of your barrel, I think one is at the very end and then an inch behind that.
The finish is not the best as you can see machining marks but it does work

Before you buy made something the size and weight of a muzzle brake and put it on the end. Go carry it around for a day in the field. I wish I had because I hated carrying my rifle once I had a brake on it. I could not find a point of balance that was comfortable.

Good call didn't even think of that one. I pack enough gear when I am out hunting that an extra pound or so will be noticeable let alone the balance point.

Listen to the man. I had the same problem with my Mosin. Stupidest thing I've done as a gun owner. Don't even get me started on the noise....
