Muzzle caps

I ve seen muzzle caps on Finn Mosins and Swiss rifles and am wondering if they were designed to be shot off if the shooter forgot to remove them?

I do know the plastic ones on C7s and C8 can be shot off no problem.

This was asked in some form recently, long story short, they aren't held on well and they don't seal the barrel well, so yes they can be... just probably like most things... don't make a habit out of it...

I figure the sgt, might be a bit upset if you shot that brass muzzle cap off.
They are mainly for storage.

Depends on the cap. Most of the Finn ones, up until they adopted the Valmet AK, were made of either cast aluminum or machined brass and are only intended for storage and/or for use with the cleaning rod. You do NOT keep them on in the field.

Same is true for most German ones except for the rubber cups.
