Muzzle cutting and recrowning

Is it possible to get 1/2" cut off the muzzle of the barrel and get it recrowned while the barrel is on the action. I have a scratch inside the barrel that looks like it was made when the crown was cut.

If the smith's headstock is big enough it can be done. If his headstock is not large enough ID and his bed is too short he will pull the barrel which is normally a easy procedure.

Just did it with a Model 88 Winchester although the saddle was very close to the chuck.
