My 200 Stevens likes H 4350/IMR4350

I have a stevens 200 in 270 win . set in a boyds TH stock free floated not beded .it shots an honest sub 3/4" 5 shot group at 100yds with both .H4350 is 53,8gr under a hornaday 130 gr SP .the Imr load I am at 54gr same bullet.seated 20 thou off the lands using the jam method. fedaral cases and a WLR primer.My question is which would you play with first the powder charge or the seating depth. I had a chance on sunday to try out my new chrony I shot 5 of the IMR rounds over the chrony low reading was 3047fps high was 3057fps.any thoughts will be welcomed.rembolt:)
 
Compare those velocities to the published velocities in your manual also inspect your brass for any pressure signs, high or low pressure.
if you want to play with seating depth and load, do one at a time.
i like to find the load first and then work with seating depth.
also keep in mind that the deeper you seat the bullet the higher the pressure and vise versa to an extent
 
The primer is not craterd and still has a slight bit of the rounded corner.the velocity is in line with the manual.I want to try and shrink the group size to sub 1/2"

Primer "cratering" isn't always a sign of excessive pressure...unless the cratering is excessive. I've got the same gun in 300 win mag. The primers crater a bit, even with factory loads and reduced power cast loads.

When mine was new, I could do 1" too. I've done a few "5 holes touching" groups out of it too....before my 4th of 5th coffee of the day...(((twitch.....twitch))) LOL. Once you get a proper target trigger into them, they're a pretty amazing rifle for the money.
