I have a remington bolt action 308 and looking at some scopes to put on. I am looking at night force and mark8 and horus vision scopes. I would like some feed back on these scopes. thanks for your time

Grim, you can't go wrong with a Tasco Super Sniper, I have one on my HB Winchester .308 Stealth. They are sturdy, hold zero and are half the price of a Nightforce/Horus/Mark 8. If you get the right version, you can get the Mildot for range estimation.

..but of course, if you have the cash, then go fo it :) :)

Don't limit your choices.

I have a S&B PMII and it's the best scope I've ever used. They are a little pricey though.

There's a very nice S&B Military MkII in the EE for 2/3 the price of a new one.

The nightforce is pretty awsome get the non NXS for target shooting with 1/8 dot and has 8 clicks per inch adjustments.

I've heard that they are a great scope (never handled one) but they are hard to come by here in Canada. For a equal or some say ever better that the super sniper, you can get a Falcon from Cyberk here on CGN for around $400. You can get them in any config you want (well almost) and are resonably price for a tactical scope. I have a Falcon hunter series 4-14 in mp20 (better then mildot IMHO) on a .300 Win Mag and haven't had any problems. It too has ajustments of 1/8 inch per click and sorry Ruthless, I still have not counted how any clicks mine has:redface:. Chech them out, I don't think you will be disapointed.

x2 for the NF BR scopes. I have an older Varminter which is the same as the BR but with 5.5-22x rather than the longer reach of the BR's

The NP-2DD reticle is da bomb for target. They also have a very cool mil-dot if your into the tactical. the mildots are hollow dots with 1/16min (approx) dot in the hollow

Then get Nightforce BR 8-32x56 with NP-2DD or the 12-42x56 if you can afford it. Don't get the NXS as they are only 1/4 moa adjustments and you will want 1/8 moa.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:

Favored by two classes of shooter, the NP-2DD is the reticle most preferred for predator hunting in low light conditions. When measured at 22x, tapered horizontal bars reaching 4 M.O.A. from the center and a floating .1875 M.O.A. center dot draw the hunter’s eye to center for quick target acquisition with minimal illumination flare around the center aimpoint. This reticle is also highly functional for benchrest shooters when combined with Nightforce Precision Benchrest models.

A secondary .125 M.O.A. diameter dot is located 4 M.O.A. below center at 22x. This dot is a 500-600 yard holdover point for most flat shooting cartridges. This simple and effective reticle performs in long range situations while maintaining quick target acquisition capability for short distances.

1,000 yard benchrest competitors prefer the NP-2DD reticle when selecting the 8-32x56 and 12-42x56 models in the Precision Benchrest series for its optimum dot subtension. The unobstructed field-of-view allows the shooter to observe the wind flags to detect a change of condition.

I've drank the Kool-aid and will recommend the Nightforce. Laser etched reticle, meaning no chance of a reticle failure. Tested to extreme temp. ranges and extreme G forces. 30mm tubes and very very clear glass.

I have used a lot of scopes and for the most part have been I die hard Leupold fan up until about a year ago, there really is not a bad choice when you get up in the big $$$ scopes, but for me personally US Optics was the best. You can order it the way you want it and many options to suit your personal needs, again it is hard to beat the quality of any of the big name scoeps, but none offer the options that US Optics does.

A few months ago I talked to the fellow at Horus Vision, I wanted their angle slope indicator, and he said they will not ship to Canada. I finally got one by other means, but with the requirements for export permits from the US, I think you are probably out of luck for getting one of their scopes.

I concur with what was said about the S&B PM II scopes. I got one this summer, and they are incredible. The Night force was my second choice and the Leupold MK-IV my third. I probably would of chosen US optics over S&B, not because they are any better optically, but because they are bullet proof. I by-passed US Optics because again there is the hassle of shipping from the States, and ditto for servicing. The Leupold is a good choice because they can be serviced in Canada and their price is far more attractive.

I have 4 Super Snipers and they have been well used by 4 of us in the family for about 5 years. A very good basic 30mm scope that has never let us down. I pay about $300 USD at SWFA in Texas. We use 20X and 16X.
