My 4 round mags

Of 9 CZ 858 mags , 3 of them hold 4 rounds max . How do i re-build them to hold 5 rounds ? I'm thinking a drill and a pop rivet but is there any more to it ? Want to make sure i don't end up with 6 round mags . Problem 2 , most of them don't fit . Do i just sand the finish/paint off the feed lips ? I had the rifle Arma-Coated and sanded the inside of the madwell but still , no go . I was thinking a liquid or paste paint stripper instead of just sanding the feed lips . The mags will go in , with force . Of 9 mags , 4 work fine and hold 5 rounds . The other 5 won't fit and 3 of those hold 4 rounds . How do i get the old rivets out , drill them ? What size drill bit . How do i measure for 5 rounds ? What size pop rivet do i put in ? Thanks guys .

First things first, not to sound lick a ####, but don't talk about modifying them here, as the moment you drill out that rivet, you are in possesion of a prohib magazine, regardless of how silly that sounds. If you were, say, an american, or say, an alien creature, and thus not bound to follow Canadian laws, I would disassemble the mag, remove the spring, load five rounds, turn upside down, and measure from the bottom of the mag to the bottom of the follower. Use a stiff piece of wire or coat hanger if it helps to get an accurate measurement. Give yourself an extra 1/4" to allow it to load with a closed bolt, and drill a hole, then rivet it. Then I would re-assemble the mag, and test.

If you sand the mags sides, be carefull not to remove too much, as they will loosen up over time. I would be reluctant to sand the magwell, for fear of removing metal.

I wouldnt have any fears of removing the rivet to fix the mag. The canadian government has to understand at some point these things need to be cleaned or serviced. As long as you take it apart once the rivet is out... you technically only have parts.
This whole "the nanosecond you touch something and it becomes prohibited your a criminal"... I just dont agree. If a police officer is standing over your shoulder wathing, dont do it. In your basement, with a very good reason and every intention of putting them back together properly... I say go for it. Your not a criminal.

Seriously though, just do as 5440 says. I have to modify a mag for my SVT (only held 4 rounds, couldn't quite get that 5th in there), I did exactly as he said only real problem is you have an ugly hole in your mag where the old rivet used to be. Heaven forbid you have a rifle that holds 10 rounds though. 'Cause we all know us Gun Nutz are just waiting for that restriction to be lifted to go around attacking everyone.

You could sell all those mags, send your gun to Wolverine to have the B&T Mag Well adapter installed, and then you'll be able to use 10 round XCR pistol magazines.

I'm just throwing that out there in case you were not aware of this option...

Can you get the plastic follower out? If so, all you have to do is sand a bit of material off the skirt that contacts the rivet, so it will go down a bit further.
