Thanks to a fellow on the EE I was able to find what I had hoped for a 40th B'day present of sorts to myself. After missing out on a couple of WTS options on the EE, I decided to post a WTB ad and was rewarded when I was contacted by a fellow CGN'r. He stated that he "knew" where one was and was going to look at it and pick it up if it was nice. He did so, and we wrapped up the transaction the next day. He stated that the bore was at least good after running a couple of patched down it, and other than a couple of stock dings was a nice piece. Well, it arrived yesterday. Disassembled, and each piece individually packed to avoid damage. Once it had all the pieces unpacked I put it all back together for a couple quick pictures. Tomorrow evening I will disassemble and give it a good cleaning as it is still FULL of Cosmo between the barrel and stock and all around the trigger action. Then off to the range on Friday to try it out! :) I will post during cleaning pictures at a later date, but here is the just unpacked pic's to start!!

Nice!! I got one just like it!! They are a great little gun with a big punch!! I put mine in a ati synthetic monte Carlo stock to take it hunting. I didn't want to bang up the original stock because it was MINT. It can be put back nothing permanent. It is a great gun for in the bush. Quite thick around here in the woods average shot would be 50 yards or less. The ati stock with butt pad is much more comfortable to shoot than original with the steel butt pad ouch. Lol. Great gun you'll love it. Oh and Happy Birthday!

Here's mine

I do have the cleaning rod, forgot to put it in for the quick pics before heading back to work. I had it shipped to work, so I had to run it home and unpack. Threw it together, took the pics, put a trigger lock on it and tucked it away in the gun locker. Cleanup tomorrow night!!

Happy Birthday nice gun you got. I do the same thing on my birthday, but my wife never gives me the cash to buy it. She just dosen't understand.

The only issue is also explaining the 49 Tula Sks, 55 Unissued Sks, and the soon to arrive No 4Mk1* as well as the M44. All recent additions to the gun locker in the last 2 months that she needs to "find" out aout sometime....lol :).

I hear you - so do a lot of other folks I suspect - maybe this topic deserves its own sticky? :)

BEAUTIFUL M44 by the way
