My 45/70 is here(now with pics)

wow, that's one scary piece of heavy artillery!

Actually, I think that's more scary than most of the tricked-out tacticool tupperguns that the mall ninjas are fond of!

That thing just REEKS of serious business!

I like it!

The Marlin 45/70 Cowboy gun is actually the model '95 not '94.......I didn't see anyone out at the PA range when i was there, too bad because I had a pile of different loads to test including a new 420 gr. LFN GC going 2100fps....it sure was fun shooting the .458 Win. Mag. after that battering.

We did see you... It was Sunday around noon in the light drizzle. We were the ones with the Sharps in 45/70 as well. We saw you with your 300 Whisper and your two cannons ;).

I was the one with hair.... (jabs buddy in the ribs)

Okay folks... need some help.

As you've seen, I was bitten by the big bore-short barrel bug... now I'm ready to spend some more cash on this beauty.

I've seen pictures on the web of this same rifle with a black (grey) laminated stock. I tried searching on this forum but can't seem to find results.

Does anyone know where I can get a nice laminated stock for this Marlin?

Thanks in advance... you guys are the best.

Camp Cook has a laminated stock on his 1895 GS.

The best upgrade i put on mine was the ghost ring sights and the second best upgrade, the one piece Wild West Happy trigger.

My son has the Guide Gun and I have the one with the barrel about 21" and the pistol grip.
Both are very smooth action and actually, little difference in barrel jump or felt recoil. We each shot each one with the same ammo and could see little difference. The GG has a good butt pad, while mine has just a hard rubber pad.
The only rifles I ever loaded for where I don't worry about pressure in the rifle chamber, only pressure on the shooters shoulder!

Just send it to Win94 for the next limited run of bedliner stocks...

IIRC Camp Cook got his laminate stocks right from Marlin...
