Hey guys, i just got my first SKS today and i thought i'd share a pic of it. With a little pracitise i am now able to disasemble and reasemble it in under 2 minutes, (fast time of 1:39) and under 4 minutes blindfolded :) Thinking about painting the bayonet black, opinions?

Now you just need to get a few thousand rounds of evil commie ammunition, and give it a workout! :ar15:

X3 on the bayo, leave the gun as is. If you want to "Bubba" up a rifle (can't use the words and phrases I'd like to here) buy a 10/22 or AR.

You can also purchase an SKS with a black bayonet. The low cost of an SKS makes this the least painful option. You will find that the best SKS is an "un-bubba'ed" SKS.

Thats a looker that one. Make sure to take the bolt apart and clean the firing pin and the channel, its usually cruddy in there. Let us all know how she shoots when you get a chance. Cheers.

Don't paint the bayo, if anything just use a home bluing kit. Blued metal won't flake or chip like paint will. It may wear off after time but that's the benefit to bluing as its not permanent and you can reapply if necessary. Just my $0.02
