Hello
I'm doing a review on my semi new vz 58 chambered in 7.62x39mm.
I decided to do this is because there was very little information on accessories and optics
For the vz 58 and cz 858 when i was buying everything. I had to do a lot of searching, not that
It was not fun but I'm sure i had better #### to do. I had questions like
Where to buy them?, are they worth buying? What's going to work best heavy use? Etc..
So hopefully this helps some people
This is what it looked like stock
Although this is a cz 858 with all the black furniture of the vz it gives you the same idea
I got the vz58 from wholesale sports in Edmonton for about 800 dollars
This is the after
No scope was mounted in this picture because i was not sure how i was
Going to install the side rail. The bipod is now off as it is useless for what i was doing
I might reinstall it for my coyote stands
This is the scope i bought for about 325 dollars
It is a posp 3x9x42
Okay now this is not the right scope for this caliber, this scope is calibrated for the 7.62x54r round
It has a 1000 m range finder and compensates for bullet drop of that round.
Not that any of that matters, due to the great customer service at eastwave i was lead to
Believe it was a 7.62x39 reticle. Horrible customer service. But it's the only place to buy posp
From and they have a awesome impressive selection of scopes. I would rather support a local
Company like interammo but I'm not sure if they have any products.
4x24 reticle
If you want to go rangefinder, then you want the only 4x24t or 4x24v
The 4x24t has the 1,7m high target mark which makes it more ideal for small game or varmints
And the 4x24v has the 1m target mark which was designed for chest shots for humans I'm guess
Both are calibrated for bullet drop for 7.62x39mm rounds and rangefinder up to 400m and that's pushing it
For the rounds accuracy but more realistic than 1000m
Eastwave also carries red dot or just plain side mounts with weaver base
So you can mount whatever optic you like. For more info on posp i have a thread in optics.
Bad picture, but I'm still able to use my iron sights, this is very effective for close range quick on the run shots
Very good for coyote hunting, i don't have a shell deflector yet, this is a problem with the open bolt as shells
Are hitting my scope although it doesn't throw the zero off . I'm building a deflector and pretty sure it will
Interfer with viewing my iron sights
Installing rails... I've done the drill and tap thing.. what a process. The receiver walls are to thin
You make it work with a spacer. But honestly what a waste of life. My way is way better
I installed it using a very eexpensive epoxy, i wasted A LOT time searching for rails and trying different things
This is the way to do it without drilling holes in your rifle, this is gun let alone rail has been put through
Abusive amounts of durability tests and hasit come off. The rail is from ebay for 8 dollars eastwave has them there are three different types
Of rails a,b and c i spent some time trying to figure out wwhich one i needed, to avoid this ask about it when u buy the scope

This is a NEA extended mag release, what isn't there to love. One of my favorite acessories
Bought it at milarm co. In Edmonton. Every cz friendly site on cgn should have them for around 60 dollars
This is a NEA oversized bolt release
It works when u need it, very loose but whAt can u expect also bought at milarm for around 60 dollars
This is a bc tactical gen 1 vented handguard, underneath is a magpul angle grip
This was a very hard choice ,it was this or the NEA but i didn't like the top cover on the topNEA plus i knew i would
Never mount anything to co witness the iron sights. Fab defense has a couple of nice handguards to but
One is plastic i just couldn't trust that around the barrel and piston it get so hot in there, and the aluminum one they
Have is really nice but it covers the gas block, i don't like that i think the gas block gives it a classic ak look which i love
So i got this one for 200 dollars, it's vented so keeps it surprising cool under heavy fire and looks very nice as u can
See you nice shiny piston inside.
This is tricky, to get this pin out requires a paper clip straightened out with a little curve on the end
You have to stick it that little hole
and depress a little pointed pin on the a spring.
Anyone has a better way please post
Fab defence stock and buffer tube
Wow this was hard to install, a lot of colourful language used with the install
This is the stock i picked, and i love it. Some people don't and don't understand why. It's from wolverine supplies
I had to buy the buffer tube separate altogether was about 150 dollars, the buffer tube absorbs recoil and does a perfect job
The butt is adjustable on the tube i have it extended all the way all the time gives perfect eye relief tone adjustable cheek piece works very well with the posp set up to. If you noticed this stock angles down a bit while some stocks go straight back
Like NEA tube adapter in my opinion that looks horrible so i picked this and couldn't be happier, also has a cool storage compartment for batteries of extra shells i use my for a piece of paper with all my scope settings(I i have to switch elevation settings for different distances since eastwave was to lazy to sell me the right scope)
This is my Fab defense pistol grip
It was cool till the bottom latch blew off when i dropped it, it has a cool little storage compartment for batteries and
What not. I'm pissed it broke but for the price whatever. I think it was 35 dollars from wolverine. The stock pistol grips are very small they fit my wife's hand but my pinky hangs off, the Fab defense grip is very combfy .
I put about 2400 rounds through my cz 858 and no problems(Czech surplus)
I put about800 plus rounds through my vz 58 (Chinese surplus)
Some of the Chinese surplus waist feeding properly and started jamming
And this happened
One of the corners of the bolt broke off where it connects to the locking piece
Well that about concludes my vz 58 review
Hope it was helpful
Let me know your opinions on muzzle brakes
I will be doing a thread comparing the vz 58 and the cz 858
And some of the things they did and didnt do to convert this full auto/SEMI auto into just semi auto rifle
Check it out
