But the barrel is dated 1931......so why would it have a pre 28 marking from another factory? Maybe some sort of refurb mark.
I'm no mosin expert but I'd think seeing as that's not technically possible, its something else.
Is the receiver izhevsk or tula on the tang?
The rifle was made at one factory and refurbed at the other factory sometime later, and may have had parts replaced.
I have a similar rifle thats been stamped at both plants.

Its not uncommon for factory refurbs to use whatever parts they can to get them out the door. The origin of parts was not the concern.
