1954 Tula numbers matching SKS that was utterly mint.. could not find a better functioning SKS if I tried. Flawless furniture too, if anyone wants it?
Promag 5/30 rounder, also got 5 rounders and 5/20's, and a wartek rail (best EVER!), along with metal front short bayonet mounted bipod (fully extended in photo.. kinda has to be for the 30 round mag). ATI 5 position foregrip too..bottom rail from the wartek system installed on stock in moments. TAPCO gas tube cover, because it's nice and square and has a rail on it that I like the look of, though will likely never use other than maybe for a quick release flashlight. the archangel one just looks like an AK47 top cover... round and nice ridges.

1932 Ishevsk Mosin Nagant .. also flawless furniture... hex receiver, great bolt, fantastic refurb. Could not ask for a better refurb mosin :)

Anyone need really nice wooden sks/mosin furniture? I have no interest in going backwards or storing....

Sooo i did this.

actually they were given away free, just doing favours for other gun owners.
and i dont want people pestering me for something thats gone.

meanwhile, admire and comment on the stock, by all means :) theyre both amazing.

haha yeah i know, thats part of why i did it to be honest.
Just love poking my thumb into a purists eye ;)

just a little personal satisfaction.

I think this will help me work though. Better results and more fun, and thats what its about.

Semantics aside, you should shoot the mosin in the original stock first & see if you groups shrink when you put it in the archangel. BTW, I will store your original stock if you like.

..is there alwayz that Gap on the SKS AA stock, at the end of the back cover/receiver area?

No, its usually much less.
I had to modify it, in order to remove the receiver cover for normal cleaning.

I shoot corrosive milsurp so it needs doing more often.

if you dont mind lifting the guts out of the stock to take the bolt and stuff out to clean properly, you can leave it, otherwise you need to take it down almost 1/4 inch to wiggle it out.

normally the gap is like 1/8" so much less noticeable.. supposed to look like an AK.. most people dont notice and its gonna be necessary for me unless i want the rifle to dissolve.

make sure you get it from HICAL.CA and beef up the order with a few mags... free shipping and the promag 5/30 is ####in amazing showpiece in here.
The 5 rounders are handy, compact, and tight as #### too..
and he sells them for a bit of a discount in three packs.

Hi cal is my go to! I already have the promag 5/30. 4 tapcos and the magwedge rail same as yer wartak ;)

Im hoping if i ditch the tapco and my utg quad rail it will be a lighter setup. How do you find the weight of the AA stock?

weight is fine, quad rails are for suckers. you're never going to be a room clearing SWAT guy... at most (and i mean MOST) you might want a bottom rail for foregrip. the tapco gas tube cover has a handy rail on it for quick release flashlight option in case of camping in the wilderness needs, and that eliminates the need for optics use anyways... you shoot what you shine at.

Red dots often come with lasers built in, no need for extra rail there...

there are bayonet mount bipods and clamp on quick release flashlight setups that dont need to stay on.

Its a weighty arrangement primarily because of the wartek rail and the bipod up front... the gas tube is about the same or lighter as the wood one, not that a half ounce matters..

the right comfy foregrip positioned properly makes all the balance/holding difference on earth. I moved my foregrip back one block on the rail and it's golden now.

all in all between optics, bipods, rails etc youre not going to make more than a pound in weight difference, and will only vary about half a pound to a pound depending on if youre using massive heavy optics...

I'd say the stocks are roughly equivalent weight, or rather overall i'm a skinny dork and it doesnt tire me out any more now that its all loaded up.

traded the bayonet for a lightweight bipod, lots of little things balance out.

whats an extra pound :) More pushups!

i'd never be comfortable with this thing with star trek starshp troopers nonsense all over the front end... who wants a firearm this long thats 8 inches wide at the muzzle :)

now... if one were to say, cut 6 inches off the barrel, that'd be another story entirely.
