Got a few guns in this month that were a little bigger than the norm. First was an Inglis Bren made in 7.92 and no Chinese script...aka the Resistance Bren. Dewat of course, but still with it's red stripe and 7.92 painted on the side. Also got a tripod for it, but that wasn't my big gun purchase.
Also got in a lewis gun (dewat of course). What a behemoth, but a real neat bit of history. Expensive, yes, but that is not my big gun purchase.
These are:

They are the training aid cut-aways for the M1919 and the 1918 BAR. The base was actually meant for just the Browning, and even has it's own serial plate. The BAR is almost 8 feet long, while the M1919 is around 6-1/2 feet.

7 rounds of oversize 30-06 dummy ammunition came with them. I guess I'll have to sew some cargo strapping to make a cloth belt. These dwarf the normal 50 cal stuff (of which I hammered off 100 rounds last weekend, but that is another story).

The innards are quite detailed, and can be broken down or operated just like the real thing. There are a few parts missing from each, but the BAR actually had spare parts in it. Don't know who else I can trade with though.
This was before cleaning:

And this was after some minor cleaning.

I believe the same model training aids are in Crown Surplus hanging from their roof, and I also believe they came from the same source as these ones. They are from a building that has not been opened up for almost 30 years, and there was almost 55 years of dust on them. I'll get around to some detailed stripping and cleaning over the next few days, as well as start making the missing parts.
I have been wanting these training aid guns for years. They are a neat piece of milsurp history. Now I just have to sneak them into the gunroom before the wife gets home and see if she notices them in there when she does come into the gun room again.
