well, I finally had the opportunity to get my BMAG out today to really test it out! (too many rifles, not enough time)! I sighted it in a while back when i put the Leupold scope on. I found the 3000 fps stuff so horribly inaccurate, I was gonna send it back to Savage, and ask for a replacement.... Well, I took some of the 25 gn out today, and what a difference! It was shooting well under MOA, and I took 5 for 5 blackbirds off the tree's there in no time... On my way home I wacked a bunch of gophers, and MAN, do they ever explode with the .17WSM!

Now all I need to do is order another Boyd's lightweight thumbhole stock! ( I have 3 already! one on my Savage Model 12 .308, one on my Weatherby Vanguard Varmint Special in .223, and on my Savage Axis .22-250!)

I found my new gopher killer!

Ginnz!

Wow, just came back from one of the local gun shops and held a BMAG....have to say it was very very disappointing.

No way I would give them more than $150.00 for that thing....I own a couple other Savages that I quite like but all I can say is wow. For the price they should have that Boyd's on them already...I guess the shop has ordered a bunch because everyone buying one wants a better stock.

Glad you like yours, hopefully it shoots like Savages usually do...I just couldn't believe they are selling those like they are with those pathetic stocks.

On mine, I sanded out some of the plastic on the stock to give it proper clearance. Have shot 2 inch groups at 100 yds, was a 4-6" before sanding. Hunted beavers with it on the weekend and it seems to do fine on them. Didn't miss once. I question the wisdom of spending the money on a boyds stock for such a cheap gun. Also adding weight to a gun that is designed as super light, with a thin sporter barrel.

I glass bedded mine and filled the first 2 hollows in the forend. The 20 gn ammo shot around 3/4" and the 25 gn shot a ragged hole not counting the one I pulled about 1/2" outside the group. Waiting for the heavy barrel to arrive.
Scott....

I know these are only $300 guns but we shouldn't have to do all this sanding, bedding etc on 'em.

I was really excited about this cartridge but after holding one at the LGS, I was disappointed for sure. Then the accuracy stories began...

I will be sticking to HMR for now to reduce the gopher population.

I bought a box of the 25 grain ammo to try. Mine is very unaccurate. Im going to bed mine and hope it shoots good. I was very excited to get mine and was so disappointed once I shot it that I haven't shot it yet. I hope I can get mine to shoot.

Make sure the wedge that holds the trigger assembly to the receiver is in tight. Some guys in the US were saying theirs were loose. The trigger assembly is what the rear bolt goes in. This has to be the most retarded way I have ever seen to attach a trigger assembly and stock.
Scott...
