This was a good hunt .........missed on my first shot 300m but after a bit of a pursuit he made his way to the back of my truck :)

Nice deer, but I thought 7.62x39 would not kill a deer.

Sweet looking euro setup there, do you just boil the whole skull?

7.62x39 ....not a problem to take a deer ......from the old country I know of a lot smaller rounds taking down a deer.......for the head clean it as best as possible remove as much as possible ....then boil......and to get it pure white (still to do) hydrogen peroxide .....not bleach

I'm not sure if I'd trust myself with the X39 at 300yds. How close was he for the shot you hit him with?

Nice buck none the less, good work. I'm even more convinced that I need a cz858 now.
 
Sorry man, just stirring the pot, I see no reason why with the right shot placement that round would not be a good one, you just proved it again.

If I get a buck this year I will try out the euro mount, it would make our camp look a lot more oldschool I think.

Once I finally snuck up on him he was coming out of gulley about 60 meters
