But I ordered another, and now I have plenty of spare parts, minus the receiver and mag tube!!

She flew off my quad and onto a gravel road where it met its fate under a Silverado 3500. I thought it stood up pretty well. ;)

OK, lol, that's not what happened. Actually, I tried to remove the mag tube and ended up cracking the receiver. Red loctite!!! So, I went into my shed and whacked it with a sledgehammer a few times to properly destroy it for scrap.

These are cheap enough to buy that I thought it would be more cost effective to do a mag tube modification myself. That was not a wise move. I've never seen such a bear of a tube in all my days.

Hi Kurgan,

Did it happen even applying heat to break the Loctite or didn't you apply heat? your hammer is really very effective! LOL!

I wanted to have the tube re-cerakoted and was thinking of adding +1 extension. My Canuck was driven hard and put away wet. It needed a refresh. Just as well as I now have a new "Pioneer" on the way for $400 taxes and shipping included. Unbeatable value. I can pop on the 14" barrel from my old Canuck, plus I have a nice side saddle, hand stop and synthetic furniture.

I applied gentle 200F oven heat, as I was worried about melting the inner spring guide and follower plug. It was rock solid like I have never seen.

LOL, looking at the pictures I would have believed the run over by a truck story.

If it is the same as mine, it has 2 followers at either end of the spring and the end of the mag tube swaged so they can't be removed through the barrel end of the tube. I used a dremel to grind away the inner diameter till I could get them out. Now it's just the barrel nut that holds the spring and follower in. I also tossed the second follower and with the right ammo and some effort, I can get one more round in the tube. I agree, great value for the money, especially considering it comes threaded for choke tubes.

Lol. Let's just say after 3 hours of screwing with the mag tube, I became a "little agressive" knowing it was going to be a parts gun anyway. Great therapy.

Isn't there a law somewhere that you must report the loss/destruction of a firearm to the horse cops? :stirthepot2:

Never mind. Looks like the wording has changed.

My new "Pioneer" model arrives tomorrow. I'm not sure how I'll dress it up, but probably just add my 14" barrel and call it a day. If I get nice walnut, I'll be pretty happy. These things are very robust, as per my sledgehammer hammer test, so I doubt I'll need any of my spare parts. But it's comforting to know I have spares of everything.
